I have long admired Julia Farwell-Clay's Nordic Star Cowl featured in Knitscene a while back -- so much that I often use it as a teaching example of best use of variegated yarn. Julia has translated that design into a sweater pattern. It is Spectacular I tell you, called Winter Traveller, and it is worked in Doc Mason's Wool!
I uploaded the remaining yarn from the 2015 clip to etsy, but it sold out before I made this post. There are a few skeins of yarn left from the 2014 clip though.
I have also been picking away at writing my first garment pattern, called the Ann Carolyn smock. It's the same yoked smock that has seen many iterations here and on my instagram.
The learning curve is big, but big learning curves are fun to me.
There are more, but you get the idea.
Enjoy your day!

that flax-y one with the dotted sleeves swoon. i can't wait to make your smock!
I can't believe you are off to Edinburgh, too. Did you know that Kirsten Kapur is going as well? Waaah.... all the cool kids are having fun!
This is all such a great way to bust out in 2016! Exciting. Go Ellen!
If you have any extra time, take the train from Edinburgh to Glasgow, then get to Paisley (just outside Glasgow). My great-grandfather emigrated from there; it was a weaving town, and the museum has a beautiful sampling of looms and fabrics. Also: I can't wait for you to get back and release that pattern! I am eager to make one!!
I may have just done my part in your shop. You know I love Doc Mason's Wool. I also grabbed those Addi's. I am always hunting for longer circulars, and these were a steal.
Love the dresses/smocks. Based on your amazing skill with knitting patterns I am sure that your sewing patterns will be awesome.
I've always loved to "knit you"---- can't wait to "sew you" as well! YAY!
thanks everyone!!
Love, love, love your yarn!
